Chad Green
President & Founder
As President and Founder of Lantern, LLC, Chad Green has demonstrated a life-long commitment to life-saving technology.
Chad founded Lantern in December of 2017. Lantern is dedicated to developing life-saving and life-supporting technologies spanning medical devices, industrial safety, and advance AI analytics. As President, Chad has grown Lantern from a basement startup to a successful R&D firm with several new patents and products being developed each year, both internally funded as well as on contract.
Prior to founding Lantern, Chad served as Vice President of Engineering for a defense technology company in Northern Virginia. He developed extremely high-speed optical sensors and electronics for Active Protection Systems (APS) to save soldier lives on the battlefield. He also patented, developed, and deployed an industrial safety system for detecting life-threatening hazards in highway or construction work zones. Chad also worked for Northrop Grumman on mission computers and navigation systems using advanced laser and micro-mechanical inertial systems. Chad has a Bachelor of Science in Electrical Engineering and a Master of Science in Physics from the University of Utah.
Destin Sandlin
Co-Founder
Destin is a Ph.D. candidate in Mechanical Engineering at the University of Alabama in Huntsville.
Destin supports Lantern as a technical advisor as well as marketing and publicity director. Destin has a B.S. in mechanical engineering from the University of Alabama and an M.S. in Aerospace Engineering from the University of Alabama in Huntsville. While an undergraduate, he was awarded the University of Alabama's Outstanding Senior Award. In addition to his service with Lantern, Destin consults as a Missile Flight Test Engineer at Redstone Arsenal. Destin is best known for his educational video series Smarter Every Day (SED), which is hosted on a YouTube with over 10 million subscribers world-wide.
Ty Batchelor
Co-Founder
In addition to his service to Lantern, LLC, Ty is the President and CFO of Alliance Source Testing, LLC, based in Decatur, AL.
Ty helps Lantern navigate new business opportunities and company roadmaps. His background includes the ownership and operations of Alliance Source Testing, LLC. Ty joined Alliance in 2012 and was part of a management buyout of the company and was instrumental to its rapid growth. Later, he successfully negotiated a successful private equity partnership that continues to grow the air emissions testing company. Today, Ty oversees all financial and administrative areas of both companies. Previously, he managed various manufacturing facilities owned by Berkshire Hathaway. Ty has an accounting degree from Samford University and an MBA from the University of Alabama at Birmingham.
